The 7 nights and 8 days Cultural safari to Rwanda will enable you to explore most of the Rwandan culture through visiting different community tours, visiting Butare Museum, Dina Fossey, Karisoke, Lake Kivu, Batwa and so on. The tour starts and ends in Kigali.
Day 1, Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
After a fully served breakfast at your Hotel in Kigali, you will be transferred to Nyungwe forest National Park. En route to the park you will visit the old King’s palace in Nyanza and also the local markets and traditional house holds. Your lunch will be in Nyanza and then later you will proceed to the park. Upon arrival, you may decide to go for a guided nature tour with in the forest like the canopy walk. Dinner and overnight at Gisakura guest house
Day 2, Visit the Butare Cultural Museum
After breakfast, you will transfer to Butare town and visit the cultural museum and the botanical gardens there. Later in the afternoon, after lunch in Butare, you will visit the hot springs in Bugarama and then transfer back to Gisakura guest house for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3, Transfer to Lake Kivu
After an early morning breakfast, you will leave Butare town and transfer to Kibuye which is one of the towns found on the shores of Lake Kivu. The journey will offer you with sights of mountains, deep valleys and the true typical Rwandan topography where it derived its name the “Land of a Thousand Hills”. Have lunch at Hotel Bethany and spend the rest of the day exploring the different fishing villages around Lake Kivu. Dinner and overnight at Kivu Serena Hotel/Hotel Bethany and so on
Day 4, Visit Ross Carr’s Orphanage
After breakfast, you will head out and visit the Ross Carr’s Orphanage. You will get a chance to know more about the orphaned children living here and if you wish, you could also donate some thing to them. Spend the whole day here and later transfer back to your Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5, Local Community Tour
After breakfast, you will drive northwards to Ruhengeri where you will spend the whole day visiting the different community groups with in the area. Alternatively, you can visit the Dian Fossey grave and know more about her projects. Dinner and Overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/La Palme Hotel/Kinigi Guest House
Day 6, Batwa or Pygmies cultural visit
After breakfast, you will visit the Batwa pygmies which are an animist community in Ruhengeri and other local communities for the whole day. Dinner and overnight stay at Gorilla Nest Lodge/La Palme Hotel/Kinigi Guest House
Day 7, Visit Karisoke Gorilla Research Centre
After a heavy morning breakfast, you will set out for the trek to Karisoke Gorilla Research Centre which Dian Fossey, the famous primatologist set up. Once you are here, you will get to know more about Dian Fossey and her efforts to save the Mountain Gorillas. Dinner and overnight stay at Kigali Serena Hotel/Hotel Chezlando/Step Town Motel.
Day 8, Kigali City tour and departure
After breakfast, you will have a short city tour around to visit places like the local markets, gift shops, Genocide Memorial sites, museums and malls. Later you will be transferred to the Airport for your flight back home.
